Cellular Pathology are seeking to appoint a fulltime permanent HCPC registered BMS1 (Cytology Screener grade considered) within our friendly Cytology department. Experience in reporting Cervical Cytology (the NHS Certificate of Competence in Cervical Cytology or the equivalent City and Guilds Diploma in Cervical Cytology) is essential.

Candidates should be highly motivated, with good communication skills and be willing to be flexible around the department needs. The position will include the opportunity to undertake:
• Screening and reporting cervical screening samples. Retraining/LBC conversion training would be fully supported.
• The day to day management and operation of the Hologic Panther Analyser with assays for molecular testing with HPV, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
• Preparing, screening and reporting semen samples for the Andrology Service.
• Opportunities to deliver training, attend courses, conduct audits and take an active part in developing future services.
This post would be ideal for BMS’s with a keen interest in molecular testing and andrology.

The department processes approximately 36,000 gynae samples, 1400 non-gynae samples, 1400 andrology samples and 4000 HPV samples per annum.

The department has full CPA Accreditation and is working towards ISO 15189.
