Applications are invited for appointment to a Simulation Fellow within Medical Education. This unique post offers an exciting opportunity for Specialty Registrars to develop their experience and skills as medical educators within simulation based education. The Fellowship consists of an out of programme experience for a period of 12 months attached to the Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) Centre within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

The post offers the opportunity to commence as soon as possible, for one year with an option to extend subject to review. A shorter period can also be agreed to fit in with the specialist training posts.

SaIL has a robust heritage of fellowships and development of innovating and effective courses and simulation interventions throughout the range of patients we care for. We support post-graduate trainees, trust staff and the inter- professional workforce at Guys & St Thomas Hospital to deliver safe and effective patient care. We provide point of care simulation and centre-based simulation and clinical skills training supporting directorate specialties to deliver their own simulation based education delivery plans.

The post-holder will have an educational supervisor, and be supported to follow our faculty development framework. It also hoped candidates will pursue a qualification in medical education. There is an expectation of participation in novel and longitudinal project work and encouragement to present work at local, national or potentially international simulation conferences.

Previous experience as simulation education faculty is helpful. The successful applicant will assimilate the skills required to design, delivery & debrief simulation interventions: And progress through the year to become an experienced faculty member, undertaking duties inc quality assurance peer reviews and supporting novice faculty development.
