Senior Research Administrator

The NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT) and King’s College London (KCL) wish to appoint a full time Senior Research Administrator who will be based in The Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology (DTR) at KCL and the NIHR BioResource at GSTFT. The post-holder will be required to carry out research administration tasks, manage and provide supervision to junior members of the team and to carry out and coordinate the process of recruiting volunteers for numerous research studies ensuring that volunteers are accurately selected and recruitment targets are met.

In order to carry out their duties, the post holder will be expected to be fully conversant with database and reporting systems. In particular, they will need to be able to write queries for MS Access and manipulate spreadsheets in MS Excel. Writing coherent reports is an essential part of the role.

The post holder will have substantial experience in clinical or research administration and recruitment. An excellent telephone manner, good writing skills and attention to detail are essential for this role as the post holder will be in constant communication with volunteers. The post holder will also be expected to be able to carry out all aspects of the research administration section of the department as well as mentoring junior members of the team. They will be expected to help train and supervise any new members of the recruitment and administration team.

The post will be based on the St Thomas’ Hospital Campus; however, the post holder must be prepared to work at any additional or different location either on an on-going or temporary basis after due consultation and work flexible hours if the service requires.

The level of the appointment will depend on the qualifications and track record of the successful candidate.
