Biomedical Research Centre – Advanced Therapy Quality Scientist, Advanced Therapy Manufacturing (GMP) Unit

The NIHR Guy's and St Thomas' Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is a focal point for innovative research into investigational gene and cell therapies through its nationally recognised research portfolio and research infrastructure.

Specialising in developing and manufacturing cell and gene therapies for use in early phase clinical trials, the BRC Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Unit is looking to appoint an Advanced Therapy Quality Scientist.

The field of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products is expanding rapidly; this post gives the prospective candidate the opportunity to expand their horizons and promote this field. If successfully appointed, you will have gained at least a first degree or equivalent, and will ideally be experienced in developing and / or manufacturing cell or gene therapies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Performing in-process and quality control analysis, and Quality Assurance activities for cell and gene therapy products
  • Work collaboratively with customers to develop In-Process and Quality Control assays
  • Undertake assay validation work to optimise procedures under GMP conditions
  • Work as part of a team maintaining the GMP facilities and equipment in accordance with maintenance and validation programmes.
  • Operate within and contribute to a GMP Pharmaceutical Quality System including change control, preventive actions, deviation management and document control.
