Locum Consultants in Anaesthesia
From £76,761 p.a. excl. LZ
Full Time - 6 Months Fixed-term
Start Date: ASAP

Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is made up of two of London’s best known teaching hospitals and employs over 13,650 staff and have over 2 million patient contacts a year. The Theatres, Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine Directorate (TAP) has 110 Consultant Anaesthetists amongst it’s multi-disciplinary staff.

The Department of Anaesthesia is seeking Locum (11 PA) Consultants to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team.  The department is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and has expanded considerably over the last few years.

We are looking for consultants of the right calibre to provide an additional temporary valuable contribution to our senior medical team as the expansion continues. The posts are most suitable for anaesthetists who have recently completed their specialist training or who find such a post in London a suitable transition point in their career. The posts provide a broad experience in adult anaesthesia and hopefully would allow additional experience to be added to the curriculum vitae. They will largely be daytime only roles with no on call but some weekend work. This may be adjusted in certain specialist areas.

The Department covers all surgical specialities with the exception of neurosurgery and liver transplantation.  We anaesthetise over 45,000 patients per year.  The department has a special interest in teaching & training, regional anaesthesia, patient optimisation, enhanced recovery & difficult airway skills. We have recently re-established our academic team and hope to increase our academic output. We also have an active role in the trust’s new high fidelity simulation centre.  Overall this is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.

As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients.  This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.

Please note that we will only accept online applications.

UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.
