You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

The Cardiovascular Directorate is looking to recruit a Service Manager within the Vascular Surgery Service.

The Service Manager role is a full time position, reporting to the Deputy General Manager & Clinical Lead. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of services to patients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints.

The department of Vascular Surgery based at St Thomas’ Hospital is one of the largest units in the country, and is the hub site for the largest vascular network in the country, the South East Vascular Network (SEVN). The SEVN covers hospitals in South East London and West Kent providing a tertiary referral service for complex arterial surgery, amputations and peripheral vascular disease. The unit is amongst the best in the country in terms of clinical outcomes, and specialises particularly in both open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair and deep venous.

The successful candidate will work closely with the surgeons and advanced nurse practitioners, to ensure that we deliver a quality, timely and personal service to our patients.  We have an excellent team of secretaries, pathway co-ordinators, admissions officers and administrative assistants who support the Assistant Service Managers, Service Manager and Clinical Lead.

Closing date: 30th January 2019 at midnight

Interviews will be held from 1pm on Wednesday 13th February 2019

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
