The Cardiac Surgical Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest specialist cardiac centres in the UK, performing around 1,200 adult surgical procedures per year of varying casemix and complexity, with the exception of transplantation.

You will become a member of a team of eleven cardiac surgeons in the cardiovascular directorate, seeking to offer a quality cardiac service to adults and children in London and South East of England. Surgeons may be asked to visit other hospitals in the South East region.
In addition to an active teaching and cardiac research programme,
the unit is an international leader in trans-catheter aortic valve implantation and has a special interest in aortic vascular and valve surgery. The department is recognised for surgical specialist training.

You must be fully registered with the GMC, hold Licence to Practise and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

You will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and, as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.
