Applications are invited to apply for this exciting post in Tertiary Centre Cardiology. The post holder’s main responsibility will be to assist in the provision of non-invasive cardiology, in particular the stress echocardiography service.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical supervision of non-invasive investigations of inpatients and outpatients within both the outpatient department.

They will be expected to provide general cardiology/medical supervision of the outpatient clinic and may be asked to give a cardiology opinion for non-cardiac inpatients.

The post holder will be extensively trained in stress echocardiography. There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in other imaging techniques, in particular cardiac CT.

About the Department:

The Cardiology Department at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals is a tertiary referral centre receiving referrals for complex intervention and treatment from across South East London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex, as well as treating the local populations of Lambeth and Southwark.

The department is staffed by 24 Consultant Cardiologists, 14 Specialist Registrars and 12 SHOs, supported by a large number of Specialist Nurse Practitioners.  In addition to a busy cardiac catheterisation and intervention service, there is an extensive TAVI and percutaneous mitral intervention program and we provide a broad range of complex Electrophysiology investigations and treatments as well as complex Device therapy. We run state of the art cardiac imaging services with both Echocardiography, Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI. The department also has a large Adult Congenital Heart Disease team partnered with the Evelina Hospital catheter labs. We provide a 24 hour Primary Angioplasty and on call services for Emergency Department and LAS referrals supported by both Interventional, Electrophysiology, ACHD and Non-interventional consultants on-call.

The inpatient department is spread across two wards and a separate Coronary Care Unit, with a total of 69 inpatient beds, 5 cardiac catheter labs and is supported by a large cardiac surgical department. We run dedicated outpatient departments at both Guy’s and St. Thomas’ hospitals and are recognised for high quality services in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging and heart failure.
