Gastrointestinal Nurse Practitioner
Band 7 - 37.5 hrs a week

We are excited to announce a permanent opportunity which has arisen within the Directorate to join our senior nursing team as In-Patient Colorectal Nurse Practitioner (NP), within the speciality of Gastrointestinal Medicine & Surgery.

Applicants for this roles will be registered nurses with a minimum of five years post registration experience, at least three of which should have been within the speciality of Gastrointestinal nursing.

This appointment is within a team of 3 In-Patient Colorectal Nurse Practitioners forming an important component of the surgical multidisciplinary teams within the speciality of Gastrointestinal Medicine & Surgery. Our ward based Colorectal Nursing.

Practitioner team are pivotal to the organisation and smooth running of the colorectal patients’ Journey with specialist surgical knowledge and skills enhancing everyday in-patient care.

The team focus upon length of stay, patient experience whilst optimising an enhanced recovery pathway.

The post holder will utilise advanced critical thinking and high levels of decision making to deliver an effective surgical/nursing model to our Gastrointestinal inpatients. This post would offer opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner, developing advanced assessment, non- medical prescribing and nursing skills to add value to the journey of the Colorectal patient.

With an established philosophy of inter-disciplinary working and a high level of nursing autonomy we offer a progressive and innovative working environment. These roles will be managed by the inpatient matrons, supported by the In-Patient Matron and Head of Nursing.
