Media Manager (maternity cover)

Do you want to work in one of the most exciting press offices in the NHS?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the award-winning communications team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and help share our story with the media.

As Media Manager, you will identify proactive media opportunities to promote and enhance the Trust’s reputation. You will also manage a wide range of media enquiries, working with senior and clinical colleagues, and oversee filming across our sites.

Our press office is one of the busiest in the NHS as our hospitals and staff are often in the news. The press office team works in a busy and fast-paced environment with responsibility for proactive and reactive media work as well as running the Trust’s Twitter feed which has around 20,000 followers and ensuring that senior management and clinical staff are briefed on media interest in the Trust.

The press office is part of our award-winning communications team. The team works closely together, providing plenty of opportunities to develop new skills.

As an organisation we never stand still, and this applies equally to our communications team. We are looking for someone who is always looking to identify opportunities for new and better ways of doing things.

You will be a superb writer, a creative thinker, calm under pressure and just as comfortable developing a strategy as delivering it.

As part of a large and busy communications team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of high-profile work which, in the last year alone, has involved the opening of pioneering new clinical services, responding to major incidents, facilitating VIP visits and supporting fundraising initiatives.

The Media Manager role is for 10 months maternity cover and secondments are welcome.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
