Student Health Visitor

If you are a qualified nurse / midwife there has never been a better time to train as a Health Visitor.

Fully funded and salaried (Agenda for Change band 5) training places are available now. The Health Visitor career path offers lots of opportunities to progress, with salaries ranging from Agenda for Change bands 6 to 8.

Applications will be accepted until 5th May, 2018 for training programmes beginning in September 2018 with Kings College London and London South Bank University.

As a Health Visitor, you can make a real difference to children, families and communities. You will play a fundamental role in the development of the Healthy Child Programme, promoting child development, safeguarding children, preventing social exclusion and deprivation and tackling important public health issues. Every day working as a Health Visitor is different, with responsibilities including home visits, working with Early Years, Immunisation programmes, running support groups for parents and working with a range of local children’s agencies and professionals.

Health Visitors have the opportunity to work flexibly in the community and are a crucial part of the healthcare team. It is a diverse role which involves being part of a wider team that provides you with support as you work to improve the health of local families.

As a qualified nurse, you can apply for a 12 month full-time course. The course comprises of 50% academic and 50% clinical placement in accordance with the University and Trust regulations.

For admission there will be a short numeracy and literacy test first and if successful candidates will be invited for an interview. You will need to have taken the numeracy and literacy assessment by the 5th May, 2018.

Interviews will take place week commencing 29th May, 2018.

Please note - When submitting the Trust application, please make sure you indicate at the top of your personal statement that you have sat and passed the literacy and numeracy test so that the Trust can appropriately process your application.
