An exciting opportunity to lead an improvement project within in-patient diabetes foot care, focusing on reducing amputation rates, length of stay and improving efficiency within the system.

The Darzi Fellowship Clinical Leadership Programme is designed to build the training and development of aspiring clinical leaders by supporting them in a 12-month project-based attachment in a London NHS organisation, as well as providing educational training over the course of the 2019/20 academic year. This prestigious Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to develop the capability necessary for a future role as a clinical leader.

The Health Innovation Network (HIN) is the Academic Health Science Network for South London. We focus on the spread and adoption of lasting system-wide improvements in patient and population health, strengthening relationships and capitalising on teaching and research strengths across South London. Our members include acute, specialist, community and mental Health NHS trusts, primary care, clinical commissioning groups and local authorities. We work closely with our members as well as industry, academia and patients and the public to facilitate system wide change and improvement. The Network is hosted by Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Foundation Trust (LGT) is an acute Trust based across three sites; Queen Elizabeth hospital, Woolwich, Queen Mary’s hospital, Sidcup and University Hospital Lewisham. The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Foundation Trust diabetic foot teams works as a multidisciplinary team made up of Diabetologist, Vascular surgeon, Microbiologist, Podiatrist and Diabetes specialist nurse. It has responsibility for delivery of in-patient, outpatient and community care, providing a much-valued service to local residents in South East London.

The Darzi Fellow will be hosted within both the Diabetic foot teams at Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Foundation Trust and the Diabetes clinical theme at the Health Innovation Network. The Darzi Fellow will work in partnership with Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Foundation Trust, with managerial support from the Health Innovation Network, to deliver impactful service improvement. 

We are welcoming applications from clinicians working in Diabetes, Vascular surgery or Microbiology as well as podiatrists and other allied healthcare professionals. Applicants must be able to commit to the complete Darzi programme. Please access the course dates here

Interview Date: 8th May 2019 - candidates will be required to complete a 30 min test on the day of the interview.
