You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our diabetes dietetic team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in a Band 6 post working across hospital and community-based diabetes services. This post is to provide cover for a combination of maternity leave and a research secondment until 31st July 2019

The successful candidate will support the diabetes dietitians with the delivery of a specialist dietetic service to a range of people with Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. The post will have a focus on Structured Education including DESMOND and support the band 7 dietitians with the management of diabetes patients receiving dose adjustment, pumps and diabetes complications clinics. In addition the post will provide some support to our newly established band 7 in-patient diabetes dietitian.

The posts will be across our services at Guys & St Thomas' Hospital and in our local communities of Lambeth and Southwark. You will need some knowledge of diabetes and structured education to deliver an expert dietetic service to our diverse diabetes population.  In addition some experience of nutritional support including enteral and parenteral feeding will be required.  The unit has a well-developed multi-disciplinary team across all diabetes services including the Southwark and Lambeth Intermediate diabetes teams. The important role of nutrition is valued and well recognised by the teams.

We are a large Academic Health Sciences Centre with King’s College London and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
