We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Nursing Assistant who is ready for the next challenge in their career.

This post requires the individual to work within the Women's Health Directorate, primarily based in Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynaecology Unit at St Thomas Hospital and engage with all aspects of patient care within their clinical setting.

You will be patient focused and be able to champion different aspects of the patient experience. You will have shown your strength in being a patient advocate, putting the patient first, and demonstrating the Trust Values in you day to day work.

You will have excellent communication and team working skills. For this will be working in an acute setting which is open Monday-Sunday.

This post will involve chaperoning for intimate examinations, assisting with procedures, phlebotomy, setting up for and assisting with clinics, assisting patients with their individual needs where necessary, performing routine tests such as urinalysis and urine pregnancy testing, routine observations, and working with a wide multi-disciplinary team to ensure good patient experience.  

It will also involve helping to main excellent infection control standards in the department, ensuring excellent patient experience, collecting and inputting patient questionnaires, helping to maintain appropriate stock levels within the department. You will need to be proficient with computers and able to use or quickly learn IT systems such as Electronic Patient Record, E-noting, email and word processing efficiently.

The individual will be highly motivated, able to work individually and within a multi-disciplinary team and be a role model to others. You must be dedicated to providing the best care to the patient and have excellent communication skills. You will have a proven track record of performance in your role and be able to demonstrate your achievements at interview. You will need phlebotomy skills and be willing and motivated to be trained to take on more clinical roles.

It is advised that you have at least 12 months experience in Nursing Assistant role to apply for this post. Telephone enquiries and/or visits to the department are strongly recommended in order to understand the role.
