Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

Come and join the Children’s Community Speech and Language Therapy team.

We have a team of innovative, enthusiastic clinicians, delivering a range of Speech and Language Therapy services in partnership with parents, Health, Education, Social Services, Local Authority, Youth Offending Services and the voluntary sector working across Lambeth & Southwark.

The boroughs of Lambeth & Southwark in South East London stretch from Big Ben and London Bridge in the North down to Streatham and Dulwich in the South, with easy access to The South Bank and Central London.

We are offering a range of permanent Specialist Posts (Band 6) within the following areas:
Early Years or Schools (including FE college sessions).

We can offer you:

  • A professionally led service
  • Excellent supervision and support
  • A commitment to learning and development, including a broad and varied programme of internal training
  • A team of SLT assistants to support the work of the department
  • A well resourced service e.g. rolling out use of iPads for remote working
  • Varied and interesting work with a diverse population
  • Support from a friendly and sociable team – including a team choir.
  • A wide range of staff benefits and facilities including gyms, pool, bar and advice and support with money matters, health, mental wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • A commitment to offering student placements.

The Speech and Language Therapy department provides focused and clinically driven services across the community (Lambeth & Southwark). Our aim is to ensure clear delivery and development of services for the specific populations we serve, enabling smoother transitions, enhanced skill development across the team and greater job satisfaction.

We provide separate line management and clinical supervision to ensure strong clinical performance and development opportunities.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
