Practice Development Nurse/Clinical Educator – Evelina Theatres.


Do you have a passion for teaching, assessing and developing staff and students?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Evelina London Theatres for a dynamic and inspirational PDN/CE to support our amazing perioperative team within Evelina. The successful applicant must have enthusiasm in helping qualified staff and students to develop and achieve their professional goals.

As the department PDN/CE you will require excellent clinical skills and knowledge in minimum 2 areas of the perioperative department (scrub, anaesthetics and/or recovery), and proven teaching and assessing skills. You will be supported by the Lead Nurse for Education and Nursing Practice and the Theatre Matron, assisting clinical teams to develop their practice. The PDN/CE role will support nursing and ODP staff in the clinical environment by providing education, training in practice, teaching and development within the clinical setting. The roles involves helping with supervision of new starters and students, providing placement for students, devising training plans and sessions, delivering on the job training for all theatres staff ensuring that they observe and perform best practice in relation to their clinical skills. This will be achieved through the facilitation of formal and informal learning, working what multidisciplinary teams in clinical practice. The candidate will work together with Paediatric Education team and also with the adult theatres PDN team.

Applicants should also have considerable experience in Anaesthetics, Surgery and Recovery current practices.

Interested candidates should have highly effective interpersonal skills including; the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals, and use their own initiative. You must have excellent organizational skills and be able to meet tight deadlines.

All applicants must demonstrate within their application a strong commitment to teaching and desire to develop and progress your career within the Theatre Department.

All applicants must be registered as an Adult or Children Nurse with the NMC, or an Operating Department Practitioner registration with HCPC; they must have considerable experience of working within an acute hospital setting, in addition they must have considerable experience in both clinical and education.
