Evelina London Head of Workforce - Band 8c

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Evelina London Children’s Healthcare Strategic Business Unit in the newly created role of Head of Workforce. You will be an individual with an excellent track-record in workforce leadership, combined with the commitment and influencing skills to support the delivery of our ambitious and exciting vision for children’s services for South London, South East England and beyond. The Evelina London Strategic Business Unit is the first of its kind within Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHSFT and this role will play a crucial part in ensuring this way of organisational working is successful.

Evelina London Children’s Healthcare brings together the Trust’s services for children, including Evelina London Children’s Hospital which was the first children’s hospital to be rated as ‘outstanding’ by the CQC. With an annual turnover of approaching £200 million and over 2,000 staff we are growing rapidly. We are the second largest provider of specialist children’s services in London and also provide a local child health service for Lambeth & Southwark. Evelina London Children’s Healthcare operates through three clinical directorates - Surgical Services and Intensive Care, Medicine and Neonatology and Children’s Community Services.

As the Head of Workforce for the Evelina London you will provide workforce expertise, influence and senior leadership across the Evelina London Management Executive team whilst fostering strong relationships with the Trust workforce directorate to fully harness its capability for the benefits of children, families and the staff who care for them. Your focus will be on working in partnership with clinical and managerial leaders to achieve the Evelina’s ambitious programme of workforce expansion, development and diversification and leading and evolving the Evelina workforce team to maximise its effectiveness. The post reports directly to the Director of Performance & Improvement and is professionally supported by a senior member of the workforce directorate at Deputy Director level or above.

We are looking for someone who will bring extensive HR experience and skills, with a strong interest in workforce expansion and innovation, service and team development and improvement, and a commitment to a positive culture of collective leadership and growing services well.  You will be highly collaborative, systematic and rigorous in your approach, with excellent communication and influencing skills

In this post you will work alongside director, managerial, corporate, medical, nursing and allied multi professional staff as well as the core Evelina Directorate Management Teams of Clinical Directors, Heads of Nursing and General Managers to develop excellent teams to provide services that are fit for the future. A strong track-record of successful workforce delivery is essential as is a passionate desire to make a difference to children, young people and their families and to staff.
