You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is leading a consortium of Trusts and laboratory providers working together to deliver world class genetic and genomic laboratory services to meet the needs of patients across South London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The consortium, which includes King’s College Hospital, St George’s University Hospital, Royal Brompton & Harefield, South London & Maudsley, and Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells as consortium partners, and Viapath as a delivery partner, aims to build on the legacy of the 100,000 Genomes Project and transform services line with NHS England’s strategy for genomic and personalised medicine.

The consortium is seeking a Programme Manager to lead this transformation of services over the next two years, ensuring equitable access to genetic testing for all patients across our region.

The successful candidate will have the skills and experience to manage highly complex innovative programmes in a healthcare setting. They will develop and deliver a transformation and mobilisation programme in line with the requirements of GSTT genomic laboratory contracts with commissioners and sub-contracts with partner organisations and laboratory providers. This will include working with teams of senior clinicians, scientists and other stakeholders to lead key workstreams covering operational, workforce, estates and financial priorities.

Accountable to the consortium Partnership Board and to GSTT via the Commercial Directorate, the Programme Manager will be highly effective at communicating and influencing senior stakeholders, both internally and externally. They will be highly organised, resilient and flexible in their approach, with the ability to manage risk and uncertainty, finding innovative ways of solving or pre-empting complex problems.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
