An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse post in the Harrison Wing.

Approximately 4000 patients are registered for their care at the Harrison Wing making us one of the biggest and busiest HIV outpatient departments in the capital. We are a supportive, multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to provide a wide range of services to our patients including:

Nurse-Led and Pharmacy-Led Clinics
Metabolic Clinic
Young Adults Clinic
HIV and Hepatitis Coinfection Clinic
Womens Health
Smoking Cessation
Specialist Health Advisors
Psychology Support

As well providing HIV and sexual health outpatient services we also care for inpatients, primarily on Hillyers Ward at St Thomas’ Hospital. The Harrison Wing moved to Guys Hospital in July 2017.

We are currently in the process of broadening our offer to include virtual clinics – both email and Skype. Core to our vision is to make virtual clinics a standard of care for stable-well patient. The provision of virtual clinics will be central to this new role so to thrive the successful candidate will have a high degree of IT literacy as well as a wealth of experience and knowledge related to HIV.

As well as providing virtual services the successful candidate will participate in the daily activity of the clinic, including coordinating shifts, inducting new patients into the service, running the emergency clinic and managing a caseload of stable well patients.

Applicants are expected to clearly demonstrate an experience of and interest in working in the field of HIV at both the application form and interview stages of the recruitment process. You should hold the mentorship or equivalent qualification. We can support your development with further training opportunities as you settle into the role.
