Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

Oncology and Haematology services at Guy's and St Thomas' are entering a period of rapid and exciting development.

A new state of the art cancer centre at Guy’s Hospital opened a year ago providing a hub for South East London, delivering highly specialised cancer services, training, development and research. We strive to provide an optimum experience for patients and their families by improving treatments, recovery and outcomes. By having our patients come to single site for both their cancer diagnosis and their ongoing cancer treatment, the new centre is assisting us in providing a seamless stream of care.

As a result of our expanding services we have a vacancy in our team of haematology clinical nurse specialists and advanced nurse practitioners.  We are seeking a nurse with experience in the management of patients with haematological cancers.  We would like applications from nurses with a passion for supporting patients and their carers throughout their disease trajectory.  As an autonomous practitioner the CNS will have an opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in order to contribute to the busy in-patient, day care and out-patient services.  This role will be working in partnership with the existing myeloma and leukaemia clinical nurse specialists.  The successful applicant will become an integral part of the multidisciplinary teams responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care. The role will offer the opportunity for further personal and professional development through both formal and informal education including advanced clinical assessment and communication skills.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates an understanding of the specialist care needs of haemato-oncology patients.  They should have a desire to develop their skills and knowledge and will be supported by a well established highly specialised nursing team. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential to this role.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
