Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

Are you a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist working with Adults? Are you keen to develop your clinical skills in Head and Neck Oncology? Would you like to work in a community setting, delivering intensive and comprehensive rehabilitation to make a real difference to the lives of patients living with and beyond head and neck cancer?  Due to the current postholder returning overseas, we are looking for a speech and language therapist with head and neck cancer experience to join us.

Guys’ & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTFT), in partnership with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, provide the SE London Community Head and Neck Cancer Team (CHANT) to deliver specialist and dedicated care care of the highest quality to Head and Neck Cancer patients across South East London. The service works across 6 CCGs: Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. The team aims to deliver a seamless service offering active rehabilitation in the community setting utilising our collective specialist skills and experience in head and neck cancer.

CHANT comprises a Clinical Lead who is also a Speech and Language Therapist, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists and is supported by dedicated administrative staff. The base for the team is in New Cross; the team uses mobile working technology to allow staff to efficiently manage their caseload, allowing individuals to work flexibly. The team is a fully integrated part of the Multidisciplinary team within the Head and Neck Cancer centre at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and team members are GSTFT employees.

The successful candidate will have clinical experience in the management of patients with complex communication and swallowing disorders following a Head & Neck cancer diagnosis. They will have a track record of participating as an autonomous specialist within a multidisciplinary team. They will also have experience of delivering training and supervision of junior staff/students.

The post will be based in the community, and the post holder will be able to access professional support and supervision from the expert practitioners at the centre. This will include being supported in maintaining and further developing clinical skills such as surgical voice restoration, videofluoroscopy and FEES interpretation.  The post is full time, however part time or flexible working patterns would be considered.
