Health Play Specialist

Evelina Children's Hospital is at the heart of a network of children's health services across the south east England. As one of the largest children's hospitals in England, we are at the forefront of clinical excellence and treat young patients from both the local community and the wider country. We are proud to be the first children's hospital to be rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission.

The Evelina is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a full time permanent Health Play Specialist to join our expanding Therapeutic and Specialised Play Service. Our intensive care unit (known as PICU) cares for critically ill children and provides support to their families. The unit currently has 20 beds and is based on Forest ward. Sky ward is opening soon and is part of the expansion to our paediatric intensive care unit. We're the lead centre for critically ill children for the south Thames region and provide a wide range of services and clinical expertise.

If you are a newly qualified play specialist or are looking to gain experience in PICU then this is the job for you. You will be working alongside an experienced band 5 play specialist across PICU to help develop therapeutic play provision, distraction, and diversional play for patients in a highly challenging environment. You must have the ability to work autonomously and with the wider MDT.

You will be part of a large network of play specialists within the Evelina and you will be supported in developing your skills and knowledge in your specialist area. Applicants must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a busy but highly rewarding environment.

Applicants must hold a play specialist qualification and be currently registered with HPSET.

If you believe you have the skills, enthusiasm and creativity to join our friendly team we want to hear from you.

Closing Date: 27 January 2019 at Midnight

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
