Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

The Health and Safety team based at Guy`s and St Thomas` NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for an enterprising individual to lead on the continuing development and implementation of the Trust`s strategy to reduce musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace. As the Trust`s recognised expert on moving and handling you will join the health and safety team as a senior moving and handling advisor. As a senior member of this innovative, friendly team you will be required to have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements in relation to risk assessment and moving and handling and be able to lead the direction of the moving and handling requirements within the organisation. Having prior knowledge of legislation and requirements for both clinical and non-clinical manual handling, you will have experience of working within a health or social care setting promoting the dignity of patients at all times. Previous experience of working as a manual handling advisor will be an advantage but not essential.

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team you will have the ability to prioritise the challenges of a varied and dynamic daily workload. You will possess strong organisational skills and the ability to multi- task in a busy environment. Good communication, interpersonal as well as teaching and training skills are essential for this post. You will deliver training both formal and informal and work closely with the health and safety manager in delivering an effective service throughout the Trust. The post holder will advise and support managers, both clinical and non-clinical and give support, provide advice and guidance on manual handling at a local and Trust wide level.

You will also be expected to deputise for the health and safety manager where necessary and appropriate. Although you will be based within the Education Centre the ability to travel between Trust sites is essential.

If you feel you have the qualities required for this post informal enquires and visits are actively encouraged, please contact Steve Copping, Health and Safety Manager on 0207 188 1512
