We are one of the largest teaching Hospital Trusts in the UK, employing over 100 Occupational Therapy staff.  As  well as providing a full range of hospital services for our local communities in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, the Trust provides specialist services for patients from further afield, including cancer, cardiothroacic, renal and children's, renal and children's services in Europe.

Occupational Therapy is part of the Therapies Directorate with supportive and progressive management structure.  Departmental objectives are founded upon the core principles and pillars of the clinical governance framework and the Trust-wide objectives.  Multi-disciplinary working within the Trust is well-established.

Students are accepted on placement from several training schools.  The Department has structured in-service training and personal development programmes.  Staff are encouraged to attend courses to continue their clinical development and participate in multi-disciplinary audit and research.  You will be working in a rewarding and challenging clinical setting.

Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking senior specialist occupational therapist with excellent proven clinical and people management skills.  You will be working closely with the Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to further develop our medicine service.  The successful candidate will work across the medicine pathway primarily with patients admitted into the acute admissions ward where there is direct interface with the Specialist Therapy Assessment Team (STAT) to ensure rapid assessment and treatment within this unit.  In addition they will be expected to provide clinical support as required to the frailty and older adult's services as the need arises.  

The role includes the management of a small team of occupational therapy staff working within acute medicine including assistants who support with acute medicine patient flow.  Our aim is to be patient centered, research driven and clinically lead by highly experienced staff.  You will be responsible for managing your own complex and varied caseload with additional supervision of junior staff, service development and audits.
