NODAL POINT – 4 - £47,132 P.A EXCL. OF LZ

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellows in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology t Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to commence in April 2019 for six months renewable to one year. These posts are particularly suitable for post-CCT candidates to refine their clinical and non-clinical skills in order to be appointed to a substantive consultant position. They provide an ideal opportunity to pursue special interest training, for example: MFM, fetal medicine/intermediate training in obstetric ultrasound, high risk obstetrics, ambulatory gynaecology, reproductive medicine, gynaecology ultrasound, minimal access surgery, colposcopy, medical education, etc. The post-holder will be encouraged to register for and to complete relevant RCOG ATSMs. The posts have RCOG recognition for ST6/7 equivalent training but do not attract a UK training number.  It will also be suitable for those who have completed RCOG ATSMs and would wish to maintain and further the skills in a tertiary centre with excellent facilities and infrastructure under renowned supervisors. Dedicated time for ATSM session (at least once a week) is incorporated in the rota for these posts.

The unit delivers around 6600 women per year and has an equally busy gynaecology unit seeing 12 000 emergencies and 10 000 new referrals each year. We have an exceptional reputation for education with protected time for teaching and consultant led educational supervision, and excellent opportunities to develop skills in all areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (clinical, research, educational and service improvement leadership). There is an international reputation for research and development in maternal medicine, assisted conception and prematurity.

You will be third on call (with an ST1-2 and an ST3-5) for obstetrics and the first on-call for gynaecology, with consultant at home as part of the senior trainee (ST 6-7 level) rota which is EWTD compliant and has protected time for training. To apply you must have MRCOG Part 2 (or equivalent) plus at least 36 months experience as a SpR (ST 3-5 or equivalent) in a RCOG-approved or similar recognised unit.
