Specialist Occupational Therapist

We are offering an exciting and challenging role which brings together the best of acute hospital and community care – enabling people to complete their hospital care at home and in many cases, avoid a hospital admission.

We provide safe, high quality care, treatment and interventions in patients’ usual place of residence and our @home service is at the forefront of healthcare delivery. Working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and with Community and Primary Care services across Lambeth and Southwark, Guys', St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals, you will help patients recover more quickly and comfortably, using advanced clinical assessment and reasoning skills, and provide holistic intervention.

Patients will range from respiratory, medical or post-operative, to people with an exacerbation of complex or long-term conditions, including the frail elderly, who benefit from short-term acute interventions that our service provides. We work with GPs, Hospital Teams, Community Matrons, District Nurses, Community Therapy Teams, and Social and Emergency Care Services.

The service operates a seven day service between the hours of 08.00hrs to 23.00hrs. As an Occupational Therapist you will be working from 08:00 to 20:00, covering 7 days a week on a rotational basis (37.5hrs/week).

You will be enthusiastic, flexible and able to work autonomously using strong clinical assessment and clinical reasoning skills. The service is committed to supporting your development and there will be an expectation that you will develop or consolidate your Multidisciplinary knowledge and skills. We will offer you supervision as well as a wide range of opportunities to develop your clinical practice, holistic care skills and career. Together we will put patients first, build a team that values and supports each other and continue to develop a service fit for the future.

Our Job Description and Person Specification outlines the role, together with the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications required.
