Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

We are looking for experienced nurses to join our specialist Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Team. If you have substantial post qualification skills, have experience working an acute hospital environment and are looking for your next challenge we want to hear from you.

Blundell ward is a 22 bed Head and Neck and ENT specialist unit. We provide holistic care for Head and Neck cancer patients undergoing major resection and reconstructive surgery, supportive rehabilitation as well as end of life care. We also care for elective ENT admissions for short stay surgery and accept emergency admissions. We work within a large, dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide Head and Neck cancer services to the whole of the South East. We have six beds with cardiac monitoring for high dependency Head and Neck patients to step down from critical care.

We offer a comprehensive induction and training programme to support you in becoming an expert in complex airway management, enteral feeding, wound care and psychological support.

We are looking for a caring and compassionate nurse who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to join the team in providing the highest standards of individualised patient care. You will be supported by a strong deputy team, Ward Sister, Clinical nurse specialists, the in-patient Matron team as well as a community Head and Neck team.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
