LOCUM DENTAL CONSULTANTS (Orthodontics)

Part-time: 8 sessions

Fixed Term post - 6 Months

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is made up of two of London’s best-known teaching hospitals which are integrated with King’s College London as part of the Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) of King’s Health Partners.

As part of the GSTT/KCL consultant-led dental postgraduate programme in orthodontics, based in our ‘state of the art’ Postgraduate Centre at Guy’s and in the recently refurbished Dental Centre at St Thomas’, the Dental Hospital is seeking to recruit:

A Locum Consultant in Orthodontics for 8 sessions, for six months in the first instance. The post will support service delivery and postgraduate training. We expect this post to become permanent.

As consultants working in our dental Academic Health Sciences Centre, all post holders will be expected to deliver consultant services and consultant-led postgraduate clinical teaching in their speciality, as well as contribute to research and audit. The timetable is set out in the Job Description are provisional and for information and will be finalised in discussion with successful applicant.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GDC, have completed the appropriate speciality training programme (or be within 6 months of accreditation) or equivalent and be on the relevant GDC Specialist Register. Please see person specification for full details.

The post holder may have contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18) and therefore these posts are subject to the rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.

As an organisation, Guy’s and St Thomas’ are committed to developing all our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings and at weekends.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.

Please apply online quoting reference number LCON380.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
