Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Nursing team as a Research Nurse within our 20 bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH). The successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting time as we expand our service to 30 beds over the coming months.

We provide excellent comprehensive health care to the local population. We are also a tertiary referral centre for the south east of England: supported by the South Thames Retrieval Service which is an integral part of our PICU.

We care for children who have undergone Cardiac, Spinal, and ENT Surgery, children who have been retrieved to our unit and those requiring general intensive care who are under the joint care of the many specialist services within ELCH.

You will possess the clinical and research skills required to work autonomously to manage and coordinate the care of your own caseloads of clinical study participants within the PICU setting. Your clinical skills will be maintained through regular clinical shifts within PICU.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated senior nurse: who will be a positive, enthusiastic role model and team member. Your own professional development will be tailored to your individual needs to enable you to grow in your expertise as a PICU nurse and research nurse.

It is essential that you work to very high standards and possess excellent communication skills, in order to work as part of our well established large team. You will need to be a registered children's nurse, hold a relevant post registration intensive care course and have significant recent clinical experience within PICU.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
