Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

Did you know that across the river from the House of Parliament and Big Ben there is a world-class, internationally recognised children’s hospital, Evelina London? We are one of two comprehensive children’s hospitals in London. Based on the site of the historic St Thomas’ Hospital, and part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and home to the original Florence Nightingale School of Nursing. We were proud to be rated ‘Outstanding’ in the 2016 Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, and continue to evolve and grow, transforming our services to meet the needs of our patients and their families.

Mountain Surgical is a busy and vibrant and 13 bedded paediatric surgical ward and as a tertiary referral centre for Paediatric Children' Surgical services, it accepts regional patients for specialist surgery including bowel surgery, gastro, ENT and cleft repairs. Mountain has the added benefit of being the admitting ward for our busy Paediatric Emergency Department, so we are able to ensure that we also offer our exceptional surgical care to our diverse local community who may present with many issues including trauma, or an acute abdomen. The ward has strong links with the respiratory and long term ventilation services, Hospital@Home service and community children’s nursing teams.

We are looking for a special nurse who is already experienced in managing a ward area or team as a band 6 or experienced band 5, and is looking for their next step on their career pathway. We know that you may have limited specialist experience, but we are privileged to have an inspirational team of Clinical Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists who will help you bridge that gap and make you the highly skilled senior nurse that you know you can be.

Have we piqued your interest? Why not arrange to come and have a look around or spend a morning with us so you can get to meet the team. We would be delighted to meet you and talk to you about the opportunities and benefits (not to mention the gyms and swimming pool) available to Evelina London staff.

So if you want to walk in the footsteps of Florence Nightingale and into the future as an Evelina Nurse, come and meet us. We look forward to seeing you!

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
