Evelina London is expanding and there are plans to significantly increase capacity over the next 5 years.

The purpose of the post is to gain experience of working within a medical educational environment, to learn about the educational process, educational development and improve teaching skills.  The candidate would work with the Director Education & Workforce and leads for training and education to develop and run a number of innovative medical education initiatives using the educational platform to support junior doctors, medical students and allied health professionals across the trust.

This post is offered as a Fellowship in Medical Education for a period of one year. The post is divided into two parts.  50% of the time the post holder will be expected to focus on educational work, liaising with teams, developing programmes and delivering teaching. The other 50% the post holder is required to work a full on call system delivering clinical care at registrar level, either within General Paediatrics or Neonates.

This is an opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and thinking about education within a hospital setting and although you do not need specific teaching experience a keen interest and enthusiasm for medical education is required.  In addition to expanding your knowledge of medical education and developing your teaching skills you would have additional opportunities to gain leadership and management skills.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
