NHS London Procurement Partnership (NHS LPP)

Band 8c/d Hospital Pharmacy Professional: Associate Director, Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Procurement (MOPP) (Acute, Mental Health & Community Healthcare)

LPP is a membership organisation hosted by, but independent of, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, founded, governed and funded by NHS organisations. Now, more than ever before, it is vital that every NHS penny is spent wisely to maintain, redesign and improve health care. Working with our members, we support the NHS to make the most of its purchasing power, maximise investment in patient care and optimise use of medicines to gain best value for money spent on them by the NHS in London.

We facilitate and support collaboration between our member acute, mental health, community and primary care provider and commissioning organisations. We are committed to helping them achieve their objectives and enable innovation, increased efficiency, improved patient outcomes and value for money and reduced clinical risk. By supporting collaboration, we currently save the NHS more than £2.5m every week. Our members have saved the NHS a total of more than £1bn since we were formed in 2006.

We are looking for an exceptional hospital pharmacy professional to join the MOPP team to lead the Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Procurement, (MOPP) Acute, Mental Health & Community Healthcare provider workstream.

The post is part-funded by LPP and part by the NHS England-commissioned Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS). Applicants should have extensive experience of NHS hospital pharmacy practice at senior level, and detailed knowledge of medicines procurement and optimisation in the NHS. Providing high-level strategic advice to Chief Pharmacists and medicines procurement teams in provider organisations, and to commissioners at local, regional and national level is an integral part of the role. The post holder will work closely with their counterpart in East of England, with other regional medicines procurement and optimisation specialists and with a wider group of SPS colleagues and the NHS Commercial Medicines Unit. They will be expected to make an active and high-profile contribution to delivery of nationally-led medicines optimisation initiatives across the NHS in London.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
