It is an exciting time to join the Pharmacy Chemotherapy and Dispensing Unit (CPDU) as the department moved into the Cancer Centre in November 2016. The Cancer Centre provides the treatment and support for GSTT Cancer patients within one building. CPDU is co-located with Cancer Day Unit as well as outpatient departments. CPDU aseptically prepares and dispenses 35,000 doses per year that is a combination of aseptically prepared doses made in house and dose banded chemotherapy doses. The unit prepares doses for inpatients and outpatients at GSTT but in addition for patient treated at the satellite site at Queen Mary’s Hospital

The CPDU is looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Technical Pharmacist who is ready to take on a challenge.

The successful candidate will be expected to operationally lead the day to day running of a busy chemotherapy unit ensuring doses are prepared according to GMP standards and received in time for the patients appointment.

The post holder will work closely with the clinical and technical oncology pharmacy teams as well as the Cancer Day Unit managers providing pharmacy production support and development ideas to day to day issues.

We are looking for someone who can motivate a team, problem solve, works well under pressure and has proven experience of working within a busy chemotherapy unit.

The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
If you believe you meet the criteria of the person specification, we would be interested in receiving your application.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
