Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

This is an exciting time to join the chemotherapy team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ as the department has recently moved into the Cancer Centre

The Cancer Centre provides the treatment and support for GSTT cancer patients within one building. CPDU is co-located with the Cancer Day Unit as well as outpatient departments.

The Chemotherapy Unit is looking for enthusiastic, hardworking Senior Technicians to work alongside pharmacy colleagues and also within other multi-disciplinary areas. The role will work within Guy's hospital as well as within the satellite unit at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup.

You will be involved in co-ordinating treatments by working closely between the clinic, day unit and pharmacy. Expectations are high that patients will receive a world class service and as a Senior Pharmacy technician you will play a key role in delivering this.

Key aspects of the job are:
1. Co-ordinating, organisation and processing of all in patient and outpatient chemotherapy prescriptions and ensuring treatments are available on time
2. Supervision of all technical operations within the chemotherapy units ensuring both aseptically prepared and general dispensed activities are undertaken safely and following all available guidance.
3. Continuously reviewing the performance of the unit, identifying delays and communicating this to clinical and senior teams
4. Training and competency assessment of all operators and ensuring all validations procedures are adhered to for the oncology service.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
