Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse

Private Patients

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking for a full-time ward manager to join our friendly Private Patient Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. If you want a new challenge and wish to further develop your skills as a team leader, come and join us.

Our Private unit is situated in the heart of London and consists of a 9 bedded ward, and a newly refurbished outpatient unit where private consultations and minor procedures are undertaken. With world-renowned consultants, we provide an unrivalled breadth and depth of experience across a wide range of clinical services. Our unit is based at St Thomas’ Hospital, one of the most prestigious and respected teaching hospitals in the UK.

Howard Ward

On Howard, we care for a variety of patients. Our main patient cohort is surgical and medical. The 9 bedded inpatient unit provides ensuite facilities. A medical officer is based on the ward and provides 24/7 support to consultants and the nursing team. Our vision is to put the ward sister at the heart of patient care.

Westminster Bridge Consulting Room

This is our dedicated outpatient unit where patients are seen for private consultations and minor procedures. The unit has 5 consultation rooms and one procedure room.

We are currently exploring ways to expand the service and it is an exciting time to join us. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed nurse, to join our team. Our department is challenging and it offers a good work-life balance, and you will enjoy working as part of a highly supportive and friendly team.

The successful candidate will undertake responsibility for the day to day operational management and leadership of the area with support from the Deputy Head of Nursing. The candidate will also get the opportunity to further develop skills in clinical management, leadership, professional and service development.

The successful post holder will have substantial experience at Band 6 or band 7 level, and a keen interest in developing your leadership and management skills. The post holder will have excellent organisational, communication skills, and leadership experience. You will need to provide the highest quality care, work autonomously, demonstrate a desire to learn, and have willingness to develop our Private Patient service. You will also need to work with other members of the multidisciplinary team, acting as a key point of contact to ensure effective service delivery.

We actively encourage staff development through education programmes and in-house training. The department works closely with the NHS services and as a result, we retain strong links with NHS nursing leadership and development. All of the staff who work within the private patients unit are employed by the NHS.
