Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

The EBMT will be appointing a new Registry Operational Manager at the end of 2018 due to a retirement in November 2019. This is a very senior role so we envisage a reasonable handover period and the suitable candidate will work alongside the current Operational Manager for approximately 1 year.
The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) is a non-profit organisation established in 1974. It is a collaborative peer network of professionals (including around 600 member centres) working in the field of haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and cellular therapy.  The EBMT maintains a Registry of clinical data from patients undergoing these treatments. The Registry is the single biggest data source of its kind in Europe, holding over half a million patient registrations and receiving approximately 30,000 new registrations each year. The EBMT is in the process of updating the Registry System with state-of-the-art software designed to meet future data collection and retrieval needs.
The EBMT has offices based at medical institutions in London, Paris, Barcelona and Leiden and currently has 65 members of staff working on behalf of the organisation. This post will be located in the office in London, hosted by GSTT.
The overall responsibility of the Registry Operational Manager is to direct all functions relating to the EBMT international registry and to data management, by providing leadership, knowledge, initiative and strategy to the Registry department and the wider organisation where necessary
Responsibilities include:
• Registry Strategy
• Operational Management in the Registry Office, including managing budget allocation
• Coordination of data submission and data quality from EBMT centres, including documentation and training provision of all database users
• Provision of user friendly and comprehensive system for all stakeholders
• Supervision of database design and management, including new indications or therapies
• Registry Communications
• Liaison with EBMT Board, Executive, Working Parties, Definitions Group and Partner Societies
• Supporting complex and concurrent research initiatives
You will have a PhD or equivalent: Statistics/Medical/Biology degree or 10 years comparable working experience. Very good written and oral  knowledge of at least another European language other than English is essential. Competent knowledge of statistical packages and procedures is essential. You should have extensive experience in medical research and comprehensive exposure to a patient registry or clinical trials environment. You will be contributing extensive knowledge and experience of clinical data management, and clinical issues surrounding HSCT and cell therapies. You will demonstrate initiative and the ability to assume responsibility for independent work and be able to meet multiple deadlines. You will be expected to travel internationally and present highly complex information.
A database management degree and some knowledge of programming languages would be a bonus.
This post is based in the Guy's Hospital site in London and is offered on a 1 Year fixed term contract basis, renewable.
Closing Date: 20 August 2018 at midnight
First interviews are planned to take place on 27th September 2018.
Successful candidates will be invited to a second interview, provisionally planned for October 2018.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
