Therapies Directorate Band 7 Physiotherapist - Rehabilitation in critical care, St Thomas' Hospital.

An opportunity has arisen within Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust for a dynamic physiotherapist with proven clinical skills, looking to practice within the specialist area of rehabilitation within critical care and also step down from critical care areas.  The post is a team lead position that will need to work with other respiratory team leads within the Critical Care Team and the step down areas at St. Thomas' Hospital. They would be expected to lead two B6 rotational members of staff, one in critical care and one on the medical wards. They will work clinically in critical care alongside the larger respiratory team comprising of physiotherapy staff at band, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 levels. The candidate will be a key member of the wider Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Team and work collaboratively with the Rehabilitation and Respiratory B8a/b Physiotherapy Team leads. They will develop close links with other allied health professionals, physicians, nursing leads in the Critical Care Directorate. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to influence how rehabilitation is delivered in the expanding critical care unit which is currently 30 beds and will become an 41 bedded unit which includes specialist ECMO provision. The candidate will undertake advanced assessments and deliver interventions to optimise rehabilitation as well as support respiratory care.

In addition to these clinical duties, the candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operational management of the rehabilitation team, including supervising and appraising staff, managing service provision and delivering undergraduate training.

The candidate will be expected to help drive forward the development and research agenda of the local and wider teams. The candidate will have had experience at a senior level including acute rehabilitation and respiratory care. There will be opportunity to develop clinical management and leadership, supported by Clinical Specialist and Clinical Lead Physiotherapists.

The critical care physiotherapy service has a high profile within the Trust, The post is currently being advertised as full time post as part of our 7-day services, reflecting the physiotherapy department’s commitment to meeting patient needs and delivering excellence. It is essential the post holder is able to work flexibly across 7-days and contribute fully to on-call out of hours services should the need arise.
