Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic and cardiovascular services.

Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

The commitment of our 17,100 staff is key to our success. We are one of the largest local employers and we aim to develop and support all our staff so they are able to deliver high quality, safe and efficient care. The 2018 NHS staff survey results show that we have one of the most engaged and motivated workforces in the NHS. We know this has a positive impact on the care provided to our patients.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced research nurse to the post of senior research nurse for the assisted conception unit based at Guys Hospital.

The post holder will be employed at 1.0WTE and undertake all aspects of ACU clinical trials at GSTFT. He/she will have ongoing responsibility for the management and organisation of his/her research duties.

These will include: identification of eligible recruits from clinical areas, explanation of the trials relevant to potential recruits, recruitment to the trials, follow up of these women throughout their participation in the trials per trial protocol and obtaining pregnancy outcome data, blood sampling and other sample collection according to protocols, maintenance of sample log and entering of all data on the study specific internet based data management system. This list is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to work on other studies in Women's Health.

The post holder will also be required to liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary research team and clinical care providers and must ensure a high standard of study administration and care of patients involved in the study. Due to the nature of this post it is possible that some evening and weekend working may be required.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
