Academy Programme Manager

(Essentia) Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust

This is an exciting role in a team that is continuously developing new initiatives to engage and develop our staff. We are looking for an exceptional training manager with excellent interpersonal skills who will take the initiative to engage with the workforce and senior managers to offer relevant and inspirational training.

This is a multifaceted role where you will build relationships with our services to understand their learning requirements, deliver training, and evaluate the effectiveness and value of the learning interventions. Crucial to the role with be using your experience of organisational development interventions and influencing skills. You may commission training and link with Universities and training providers to ensure our employees gain relevant and excellent qualifications to fulfil their career aspirations.

The role will be based in Central London, working with our managers to identify to deliver operational and development training in line with our talent management strategy and service needs. We have excellent annual staff survey scores and this role is key to ensure we meet the expectations of our staff. An approach of continuous learning and can do attitude is vital.

 

Purpose of the Role

  • To develop the capability of our non-clinical staff to deliver excellent patient focused services within a healthcare setting.
  • Delivering on the directorate strategic plan and working with key stakeholders you will take responsibility for identifying and developing capability of a suite of future focused development solutions to grow the capability and effectiveness of the directorate.
  • Key to the role will be building internal relationships and robust external partnerships to enable the continuous design and delivery of a wide range of excellent cost effective solutions to develop our workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Build excellent internal relationships with services to identify, develop and deliver a wide range of pragmatic OD and learning solutions to support business effectiveness.
  • Conduct learning needs analysis, review PDR outcomes and quality to ensure we are identifying relevant priorities and strategies.
  • Manage and deliver the Academy programmes to develop management capability and support the succession planning strategy.
  • Manage the training budget, including facilitating training panels, and external partners to deliver excellent training solutions
  • Facilitation, delivery and evaluation of learning programmes.
  • Identify, design and delivery a suite of learning solutions to further develop manager capability. Key aspect will involve developing a suite of bite size training courses.
  • Measure the success / return on investment of all learning interventions delivered – using this data to adapt/make recommended improvements where needed
  • Provide ad-hoc support, and consultation of overall career / professional / personal development for manager and leader population
  • To facilitate and support staff survey promotion and action plan within Essentia
  • Champion the organisational values, behaviours and competencies
  • Contribute to a self-driven learning culture through providing feedback, coaching and enablement at an individual and team level within Essentia.
  • Keep up to date with latest research on OD and learning methodologies/solutions, in order to recommend, pilot and introduce new solutions that support delivery in this role.
  • Undertake any associated administration to support deliver e.g. booking rooms, manage invoices, regular communications to staff, budget management, event management etc.
