Join us and become part of the most engaged workforce of any NHS trust in England, according to the latest national NHS Staff Survey results – for the second year running.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward-looking organisation in the heart of the capital where you can develop your career and broaden your horizons.

We think you will enjoy working for us but you don’t have to take our word for it – 79% of staff who took part in the latest national NHS Staff Survey would recommend Guy’s and St Thomas’ as a place to work.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department at Guy’s & St Thomas’s Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to take a lead role in the department, supporting the operational delivery of clinical services.

The Orthopaedic Surgery Department is a highly specialist tertiary referral centre offering subspecialist interests across both Guy’s & St Thomas’s sites, including:

-Upper limb, hand, foot & ankle surgery

-Hip primary/revision surgery and young adult hips

-Knee primary/revision surgery and soft tissue knee

-Complex spinal surgery

-Orthopaedic trauma

The role is to support the Business Manager in the delivery of a high quality service, ensuring that day to day services are managed in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. The post holder will be required to manage a team of staff, including medical secretaries across both sites and deputise for the Business Manager when required.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of delivering varied and demanding operational targets, a strong RTT background and a gift for leading and inspiring a multidisciplinary team to continually redefine and deliver the highest quality care for our patients.

The post will provide a great opportunity for individuals looking to develop their career in NHS management, allowing the post holder to share and standardise best practice and to improve patient experience.

Applicant requirements

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
