We are a vibrant academic Professorial Unit within King’s Health Partners.  There are excellent facilities for translational research within the Protein Therapeutics Laboratory in our MRC Centre, The Division of Cancer Studies and The Centre for Robotics Research.  We lead the BAUS national simulation programme and have a multi-million pound grant funded Simulation and Interactive Learning (SAIL) centre.  Our Biomedical Research Centre has recently received £58 m in renewed grant funding from the (National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).  We provide the ideal environment for an individual with interests in either basic science, translational or clinical research including the design of large scale trials.

The Unit has two wards dedicated to Urology with 50 beds. There are two operating theatres with full specification for minimal access surgery (Laparoscopy and robotics) and a third operating theatre purely for stone patients within an integrated stone centre. A new diagnostic urology centre opened at Guys in January 2008 designed to provide the highest quality diagnostic and non-surgical urological care. The opportunities within the new centre to develop new services are inexhaustible.
