This is an exciting opportunity to join the Biochemical Sciences department within Viapath Analytics, based at St Thomas' Hospital. Biochemical Sciences is comprised of Inherited Metabolic Disease laboratory, the Purine Research Laboratory, the South East Thames Newborn Screening Service and Reference Chemistry laboratories.

The Reference Chemistry laboratory includes Endocrine, Immunochemistry (proteins), stone analysis (FT-IR) and Anti-TNF therapeutic drug monitoring service. The Anti-TNF drug monitoring service is the first of its kind in the UK.

Working primarily in Reference Chemistry the post holder, together with other laboratory colleagues, will be responsible for the development and delivery of a broad range of complex, specialised diagnostic procedures including the provision of clinical advice, collaborative research and service development. The job holder has a degree of individual responsibility and should be  HCPC registered. Comprehensive knowledge and experience of specialised Biochemistry tests is a prerequisite.  ideally be HCPC Clinical Scientist or expected HCPC registration completed in September 2018.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
