The Viapath Genetics Laboratory in the Guy’s Genetics Centre is recruiting to a Technical Lead post that will be jointly responsible for the day to day management of the Monogenics laboratory with specific reference to DNA extraction and sample processing, Next Generation Sequencing Service and Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) laboratory processes. The responsibilities of this post include training, stock control, reagent validation and maintenance of equipment. This post will work collaboratively with the existing Monogenics Technical Lead to manage technical staff across the Monogenics and PGD labs on rotation.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of performing NGS assays including trouble shooting problems that arise, and they should have experience of supervising technical staff. In addition, knowledge and experience of setting up and analysing PGD tests is desirable.

In addition, the post holder will have extensive knowledge and experience of DNA extraction, PCR, MLPA and Sanger sequencing.
Additionally the post holder will undertake a range of laboratory duties whenever appropriate, such as genotyping set up and analysis, Sanger sequencing, next generation sequencing, making use of the Laboratory robotics equipment. In addition the post holder will perform DNA extraction, and prepare reagents as indicated.
