The place to work in pathology

We are looking for top talent to join the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company – a scientific organisation with a clinical purpose.

Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, Bedford NHS Hospital Trusts, and Princess Royal University Hospital we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

Not getting the job satisfaction you deserve?  Not working to your full potential?  Still waiting for the Professional Development budget to be approved?  Want to be recognized and valued for the work you do?

Our Haematology and Blood Transfusion Team can help solve some of these dilemmas, in return for your expertise and commitment to our team of dynamic and knowledgeable scientists

Viapath’s Haematology & Blood Transfusion Laboratories, based at both Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, are looking for Registered Biomedical Scientists to join our team on a permanent basis.

What’s on offer:

Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals are two of the oldest and most prestigious teaching hospitals in the UK, located in zone one of Central London, with excellent transport links. You will be close to vibrant Borough Market and the South Bank, which are exceptional London locations throughout the seasons; perfect places to work and relax next to such iconic venues as Big Ben, The London Eye and The Shard!

Viapath is committed to training and development through the organisation’s Scientific Learning and Development fund, allowing permanent members of staff the opportunity to apply for funding towards a variety of qualifications (e.g. MSc, BBTS), and CPD activities.

Locally delivered personal and career development courses are also available through ‘The Viapath Way Development Programme’.

We have the tools for you to grow.

How you will qualify:

You will be an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, ideally having already completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and Hospital Transfusion or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience. However, we would also welcome newly registered Biomedical Scientists, with an interest in specializing in Haematology and Blood Transfusion and willing to complete the IBMS Specialist Portfolio.

You will be expected to rotate through all areas of the Transfusion and Routine Haematology laboratories and participate in the 24/7 out-of-hours service provision. Ideally, you will participate in the full 24/7 shift pattern, but we would also like to hear from those registered scientists who can only commit to nights and weekends.

A little about us:

We are UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 standards and are an IBMS accredited training laboratory for both Registration and Specialist Portfolios.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust is a major emergency and specialist teaching hospital which has all the specialities associated with a fascinating and career defining case workload including women’s services, fetal medicine unit acute and critical care medicine (ECMO specialist), cardiovascular surgery, Haematology and Oncology, Transplantation and is also home to the Evelina Children’s Hospital and the newly opened Cancer Centre on the Guys site.

For you, this makes for a varied, interesting, and sometimes challenging but extremely rewarding working life; no 2 days are ever the same!

Still not sure? Then drop Sue Woodcock or Tim Maggs an email to arrange an informal visit….

Interviews will be held on July 5, 2018.
