The place to work in pathology

We are looking for top talent to join the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company – a scientific organisation with a clinical purpose.

Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, Bedford NHS Hospital Trusts, and Princess Royal University Hospital we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

We are seeking applicants with substantive experience in Histopathology to join our team of managers in Tissue Sciences as the Histology Operations Manager. This Manager will be responsible for the Histology laboratory services, which are based at both Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals.

The position requires the applicant to have extensive experience in routine histology. This particular positon will suit those who have previous management experience and a history of working in a busy hospital environment.

The departments provide histopathology services to theatres & clinics at both hospitals and also receive external work from a number of referral centres. We provide specialised laboratory services and work closely with a consultant body to provide the best result for the patient.

The department employs approximately 54 members of staff across the Histology laboratories including a team of medical secretaries. The department processes approximately 55,000 cases per year and is actively participating in the 100k Genome project.

The department is registered as a training laboratory, where continuing professional development is supported and actively encouraged. All Tissue Sciences laboratories hold UKAS accreditation to ISO15189:2012.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Health & Care Professions Council Registered Operations Manager, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, to join us to lead a highly skilled team of staff.

The applicant will be required to start as soon as possible to allow for sufficient handover and will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager, Consultant Grade BMS, Quality Manager and Office Managers for Tissue Sciences. Other key relationships will be with the Clinical Lead for the department and Viapath Services colleagues.
