An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology has now arisen in the Advanced Diagnostics Laboratory based within Tissue Sciences at King’s College Hospital. Applications are invited from an experienced HCPC registered Senior Biomedical Scientist who possesses an extensive level of histology practical experience in immunocytochemistry and molecular histopathology. This is a permanent post in the Advanced Diagnostics Section of the Tissue Sciences laboratory.

Experience using the Ventana Benchmark Ultra and/or Leica Bond III platforms is essential for the candidate as well as experience in molecular pathology technique in histopathology including FISH, DNA extraction, Pyrosequencing, Capillary Electrophoresis and real-time PCR. The candidate will have the opportunity to further extend their molecular pathology knowledge and skills by the application of Next Generation Sequencing.

The candidate will be required to register for the Clinical Scientist Equivalence portfolio with the aim to become a registered Clinical Scientist. The candidate will receive full training in the interpretation and reporting of results.

Tissue Sciences at King’s College Hospital is part of the South London NHS Genomic Medicine Centre which delivers the 100,000 Genomes project in collaboration with the Molecular Pathology Department. The successful candidate will be involved in this transformational project.
