The place to work in pathology

We are looking for top talent to join the UK’s leading and fastest growing pathology company – a scientific organisation with a clinical purpose.

Working in partnership with our service partners, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, King’s College Hospital, Bedford NHS Hospital Trusts, and Princess Royal University Hospital we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team in the Immunodermatology Laboratory as a Band 4 Associate Practitioner. Immunodermatology is part of the St John's Specialist Dermatology Laboratories and is located on the St Thomas' Hospital site. The laboratory diagnoses autoimmune blistering diseases from both biopsy and serum specimens and serves as a national and international referral centre for expert opinion.

The specialist diagnostic team delivers a bespoke service using direct and indirect immunofluorescence techniques and ELISAs with clinical leadership provided by a consultant dermatologist. The laboratory processed approximately 7,500 samples last year and performed around 40,000 tests on these samples.

This is a busy laboratory with a small team of scientists. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to become an Associate Practitioner within the laboratory to support specimen reception, sample processing and testing, in addition to a number of administrative duties. The individual will work closely with the Medical Laboratory Assistant and Biomedical Scientists and will provide vital support to both groups, to meet test turnaround times and ensure the smooth running of the diagnostic service. Previous experience in either histopathology or clinical immunology labs at a Band 3 equivalent level would be advantageous. There will also be opportunities to pursue an IBMS Registration Training Portfolio with this post, subject to availability and satisfactory performance.

Interviews will be held on: October 22, 2018
