Are you passionate about innovation, both in healthcare and in communications? We have two exciting opportunities within our organisation. The first for an experienced communicator to lead the communications strategy for a national healthcare innovation programme, funded by the Office of Life Sciences; and the second for a digital communications specialist to lead on implementing the Health Innovation Network’s digital communications strategy.

Both positions are based in the South London AHSN, the Health Innovation Network, right next to the vibrant Borough Market and the river, with a friendly team of communications, production and marketing professionals. We have an active staff health programme including weekly free yoga provided by a trained colleague. Good support plus a full introduction to the Health Innovation Network will be provided by the HIN team and colleagues.

The team is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, which brings a range of staff benefits including access to a range of training and development options and the swimming pool and gym at Guy’s for a small monthly fee.

Too often, companies or clinicians with incredible ideas or products that could help the NHS save lives find it difficult to navigate the complexities of the NHS system. They need support to pilot, test and share their ideas, so that the NHS can make the most of the best innovation the private sector has to offer and so that the UK’s dynamic life sciences industry can continue to thrive.

That’s why the NHS’ lead innovation body, the AHSN Network (made up of 15 regional Academic Health Science Networks) is spearheading a programme to change this: The Innovation Exchange. This national programme aims to help the NHS make the most of the best innovation out there, while supporting innovative companies in our life sciences sector to grow. Your job will be to tell the story of this programme and to lead, implement and co-ordinate its communications strategy across the country, working in partnership with AHSNs around the country (15 in total).

You will have a major interest in healthcare improvement and be strongly motivated by our work. You will need to be a confident communications professional, very well organised and confident at getting on with delivery, as well as dealing effectively with contacts from a wide range of professional backgrounds and seniority.

Digital Marketing Manager, Communications Team | Health Innovation Network

The Health Innovation Network Communications team is looking for someone who is creative, passionate and interested in joining a growing and ambitious team. We’re a small team with big goals and we’re lucky to get to work on some of the most exciting issues facing the NHS today – digital innovation, AI, mental health and helping people live happier and healthier lives.

In this role, you would lead the content and marketing approach for our South London channels, including website, social and direct marketing, as well as having the chance to work on national innovation projects for the wider AHSN Network.

Our communications strategy for the next two years has a major focus on innovating and improving our content and marketing approach and we are looking to appoint someone who has not only the expertise but the desire to innovate with us, to create ground-breaking campaigns to help healthcare innovators in the NHS make a real difference to people’s lives.

The post holder will be an integral member of this team, tasked with maximising the output of our existing channels and exploring the potential for adding new ones, so we continue to grow, nurture and engage our vast and varied audiences, online.  

You will have expertise in devising and delivering timely and relevant digital campaigns and will be strongly motivated by our work. You will need to be both strategic and creative, and will ideally have experience working on projects with numerous stakeholders. A background in delivering both national, as well as local, campaigns is desirable.
